Just a Normal Week

Katie thinks she turns the street lamp on with our front porch light switch. She will peek out the front window to see if she needs to turn the light on or not.

Tuesday night is Ryan's night to go do whatever (mostly shopping, playing computer games, and watching movies) with his cousin. I took Thursday as my night this week. I got to wander around Shopko for about an hour, finding cute after-Valentines Day sales, and just looking at whatever I wanted to look at. It was nice.

I've been spending a lot of time at Amanda's house lately. She moved into a house that is literally 4 houses away, so it is great. The girls play together so well.

On Saturday I walked/jogged 5 miles with my Mom and her friend. Dad rode his bike alongside me and kept me company. (Mom and Lisa jogged most of the way, while I walked about half the way). The weather was fabulous, and I actually felt pretty good when I got home.
I've been having problems with my knees and hips hurting if I jog too much. Saturday I had new shoes, and realized that I seem to jog on the side of my foot instead on the bottom of it. When I focused on resolving this, my knee didn't hurt as much. (weird!) I keep thinking that my joints shouldn't be hurting this much, because I really haven't used them most of my life. But then, loved ones keep reminding me I've had a baby, so my body is readjusting. I need to be patient and let my body recover. Blah blah blah. :)
Maybe I'll be able to complete the half marathon in May after all.

Also on Saturday we got the bathrooms cleaned, and the house vacuumed, thanks to my hard-working husband. I've decided that the days of me being the only person cleaning the house are over! Unfortunately for Ryan. Ha ha. I really am thankful for his help. It takes both of us (with Katie helping) about and hour and a half to do what it would take me 3-4 days during the week. Plus, it is all clean the same day and at the same time, which is how it should be, in my mind. (unrealistic expectations, I know)

I can't really do this long distance, but I would like to watch your running form. You are right about the feet though. Have someone watch you from behind and see if you truly are running on the outside of your foot. If you start out wrong(the starting point being your feet), your knees, hips, back, and neck are eventually going to be affected by incorrect form. It is true that your hips may be a little "loose" from childbirth. But you should be careful. Go to a running store, get some new shoes. They will watch you and get you some shoes specifically for you that will help tremendously. It will be well worth the money, believe me. You don't want to injure yourself in training or on race day. Also, try not to "pound" when you run. Think of propelling yourself forward, leading with the knees, instead of up and down. That should help as well.

Wow, this was much longer than I intended. What can I say, you peaked my interest:)

So, don't know what Alisha is commenting to, but I agree with her about going to a running store and getting shoes that are right for you - I couldn't believe the difference!

And love the story about the lightswitch. Great one to share when she is older :)
