Elayna is sorta reaching for us. More of a leaning, and opening her arms, but it seems to be in connection with people she wants to see. She has also had a bad rash/eczema thing on her arms and legs. I almost wonder if she is having a reaction to her blankets, because it starts where her onesie ends. We have been putting oatmeal lotion on it, and that has helped a lot.
Katie wanted some juice at dinner the other night. Then, we decided she needed to go to the bathroom in the middle of dinner, so I took her. When we came back, she was still asking for the juice. Ryan said he would "magically" fill it from his chair, then did a "psssssshhhhhhh" sound to refill it. We told her to look in her cup, and she gave us this incredulous look. When she realized there was actually juice in it, she was amazed. She wanted me to magically fill her cup like that for the next week.
Ryan was holding Elayna the other night. They both looked so cute, that I leaned over and gave Elayna a kiss on the cheek. Ryan kissed her other cheek at the same time. We leaned back to see how she was going to react to it. She started crying!
Katie has been waking up in the middle of the night with nightmares, I suppose. Then she wants us to stay in there with her until she falls back asleep, which can sometimes take WAY too long. We are trying to figure out how to just comfort her, and then leave. She will start screaming and crying, and we don't want her to wake Elayna, so it is quite the dilemma. So far, we haven't succeeded.
Elayna is laughing a little bit more. She smiles a lot, but seems to laugh without sound right now. Most of the time. When she does laugh out loud, it just warms my heart. It is so cute. I will try to get a video so you all can hear it.
Katie is going around sing-song-ing her sentences. Just occasionally, but it is very cute.
Elayna sat in a high chair and ate about one teaspoon of rice cereal today (Dec 1st) for the first time. She did pretty good. Most of the cereal ended up in her mouth, eventually. She seemed to like it, but I couldn't get it to her fast enough, I guess. She started crying, so I nursed her. I guess we will have to try giving her cereal after she has eaten a little.
Katie was saying her prayers for the night, and she said, by herself, (and we haven't ever said this to her that I recall) "Thank you for the sacrament, and the bread and the water". It was so cute. Of course we smiled and commented on it after the prayer, so now all her prayers include that. We just had a tea party where we (she helped me pray this time) were thankful for "the milk, the sugar, the..what is this? (pointing to the teapot) (me: the drink) ...the drink." What a thoughtful girl.
Elayna finds her grandparents (grandmothers particularly) hilarious. They can both get her to just laugh and laugh. And then I try to get her to laugh, and she gives a courtesy giggle, it seems. Sigh.
