I spent last Monday and Tuesday digging up most of the dandelions in the front yard. I'm not quite done yet, but it looks infinitely better. If I can finish the rest of the yard tonight, we can start putting Weed and Feed on it, and hopefully not have to worry about it anymore. (I actually just sprayed the rest with Week B Gone, which just kills the weeds and not the lawn. Lots easier.)
I'm so excited about some trees I bought. Mom went to Sam's Club last week and saw some 10-foot trees on sale for only $9 each! Hurray! Mom took an extra trip with me to Provo and we got 5 trees, (2 were for Dad) for less than the price I was planning on spending on 1 tree! Ryan helped me plant them Saturday. Okay, okay, in reality, Ryan dug the holes, put the trees in, and covered them. But, I watered the ground so it would be softer for him, and I'll point out where I want them, AND I'll stand by giving encouraging words. That's pretty much the same amount of work, don't you think?
I need to trim a couple of more things, then I should be okay to desert the yard for the summer. I guess I'll have some weeding to do, but since Ryan got rocks on most of the flowerbeds last year, I can just spray most of the weeds, and that makes my life so much easier.
I'm going to cover the 2 long garden boxes with the dead leaves that I never raked up last year and a black plastic sheet. That way they won't get too full of weeds, and hopefully they will mulch the leaves into compost and make the dirt even better for next year. I'm leaving the 2 small boxes open, since they have strawberries in them, and I don't want to kill them off. I'll just have to make sure I try and weed them every once in a while.

my LA friends and I were just talking about how "house people" get to talk about what kind of trees they will plant and how they are going to do their gardens. something we all wish we could do when the weather starts to get warm. enjoy!
Sometimes I really think it would be nice to be able to work in my own yard, but then again, it's nice to have my own "Gardner" ha ha. It sounds like it will be pretty!
