Thoughts

Katie has had a fever for a day or two. She is still happy and good-natured, but I can tell she doesn't feel well.

Today she was so cute. She was walking around the house, and twice she stepped on something that stuck to her foot. You know, dirt, or food or something. Anyways, she kept saying "mess" and swirling her arm around in a circular motion as though she was stirring something. Apparently that means "vacuum". I didn't really feel like vacuuming right then, so I asked her if she wanted to go outside, or vacuum. She chose to clean. I guess she really does take after me in some ways.

Mother's Day notes:

Ryan worked so hard on Saturday to plant the trees, and he worked on the sprinkler system, and got the extension cord for my freezer hooked on the garage rafters. I went and bought myself some pink petunias because I knew it would be hard for Ryan to find what I wanted. I think he felt put-out about it, because he wanted to take me to dinner on Monday. We went to The Pizza Factory, and it was really nice. Earlier in the day, I was thinking that I should probably just make dinner, so we could save some money. I told Ryan, and he acted disappointed and said he was planning on shaving, and dressing up nice with me. That pretty much clinched it for me. Who doesn't want to go eat with the person they love the most, AND dress up nice? That might sound as though I'm making fun, but I do enjoy dressing up, and Ryan looked extremely handsome. We had a really nice night, and I was really glad we went.

I actually started this post last week. I'm having a hard time keeping up with this blog, and finding stuff to write about. I guess I have things to talk about, they just aren't much about Katie. She seems so grown up now. She can go down a step or two without holding anyone's hand (new as of yesterday), and she was rolling around like a log yesterday too. She is so much fun, and is learning new things all the time.

Ryan worked really hard this last weekend. He plays on a city softball team as the catcher. They play 2 games every Friday night. They won both games last week, and he was pretty tired from that. Still, he mowed both the lawns on Saturday, weed-wacked, sprayed weeds, and then started digging a HUGE hole with his father. Our city is switching to pressurized irrigation for non-culinary water, so everyone has to dig holes to connect the sprinkler system to the P.I. system. The hole they dug was probably about 6 feet deep, and 5 feet long, and about 2 feet wide. They were both pretty sore. Now they just have to fill it back in after it is approved by the city, which will require lugging the dirt back over to the hole, and shoveling it back in, and stomping on it to make sure it compacts well. I'm so glad he and Jerry are doing this. There is no possible way I would ever have been able to do that, pregnant or not.

I think the worst part of them working so hard on Saturday was that they started at about 11:30 or 12, and finished about 2:30 or 3. The hottest part of the day. Yuck.

Overall, I am just so blessed to have a wonderful, smart, funny, beautiful, healthy girl like Katie; a fabulous, hard-working, handsome, always-makes-me-feel-better husband; a healthy child developing and growing inside me; and I usually have the energy to enjoy all of them!

Sometimes I think they should appreciate that you tell them exactly what you want for a gift, but then my husband always like to surprise me too and gets me something else, I guess it just shows us how much they love us!
