This is Elayna. She loves to walk around in my shoes. And Ryan's shoes. And Katie's shoes. She will bring me her shoes at random times throughout the day and want me to put them on her. The girl loves shoes. There are also some fun things she can say:
This is Katie doing a somersault. We tried hard to describe to her the direction we wanted her to go, but she never seemed to understand. That's the funniest part to me, is her confusion. And the "Oh my dosh!" at the end:
This is Katie singing some Nursery Rhymes and Primary Songs. I love how she goes into her "upper voice" on the chorus of the Primary song. Apparently it is a little too high for me, and so she thinks it needs to sound that high when she sings it:

Cute-ness
I was telling Irma and Jerry about how tired the girls were the other night. I said something to the extent of "I put them down and 5 minutes later, they were GONE!". Katie happened to be listening, and asked, "Where did we go Mom?" I said something like, "you went to sleepyland (don't know where that came from. It just popped into my head) sweety." Katie asked in a somewhat concerned voice, "Why weren't we in our beds?"
Elayna is having fun "saying" prayers for the family. She will repeat one syllable from whatever phrase Ryan and I will say for her. It's adorable!
Katie has been coming into our bedroom at about 5:00 AM. She will ask if she can lay by us, and we say, just for a minute. Then, we fall asleep, and all the sudden it is morning. Then she started asking, "Can I lay by you, just for a little tiny bit?". We decided this needed to stop, since we both lost sleep over the fact that we might smush her. We told her no one night, which prompted much wailing and gnashing of teeth. The next night she asked, but when I told her no, she went back to bed. Or so I thought. When I woke up in the morning, she had pulled in a blanket and pillow to make her own bed in our room. Finally, she has been staying in her own room for a couple of nights now. And Elayna isn't waking in the middle of the night much either. So we are actually getting uninterrupted sleep at night. It's great!
Elayna has wanted to sit on the potty. She started it, and seemed pretty happy with herself. She has definitely connected "stinky" with "potty". She will say, "Bum. Mom, Bum! Potty!" and we will run into the bathroom. 3 times we have even made it in time! It's pretty exciting.
One night I went in to check on the girls. Katie was sleeping fine, so I looked in Elayna's crib. And I noticed that she had her favorite blanket wrapped tightly around her head, and her neck. Oh horrors! It really scared me! I know she just was laying on it, and it got wrapped around when she turned over. It wasn't tight around her neck, but it took some pulling to get it off her head. When it came off, she gave a big sigh and went back to sleep.
We put up Bunkbeds for the girls on Monday night for Family Home Evening. Irma, Jerry and Matthew came and helped (since Ryan helped them cut down a tree on Saturday, they wanted to return the favor). Katie loves it. She sleeps on the top, and hasn't fallen off yet. Elayna likes to pretend to sleep on the bottom bunk, but when it comes time to actually sleep, she wants her crib. Elayna loves climbing up the ladder, but she can only make it about halfway. Then she slides through and lands on the bottom bunk. She did this over and over. They are having lots of fun with it.
I've been working on putting my blog into book form, so I haven't written much. I also found some videos on our camcorder, so I'll try to get those up soon.

An Eventful Week
On Saturday or Sunday, Ryan discovered that our washer wasn't spinning, and the clothes were still dripping wet when the cycle was finished. Jerry came over, and they took the washer apart. They couldn't find anything amiss, so they put it back together, and it worked. Hurray! It still doesn't work sometimes, but I've discovered that if you kick it, and restart the spin cycle a couple of times, it will spin correctly.
On Monday, we found out we were going to have to pay $650 to get Ryan's car's muffler and struts repaired. Plus the normal inspection and emission test fees.
On Tuesday night, I came home from a Relief Society meeting, and the garage door wouldn't open. Ryan took the opener-box-thing apart and fiddled with it for about an hour. He figured out some of the things wrong with it, and should be calling (any day now) the repairman to come look at it.
Wednesday afternoon we all drove up to Provo to get Ryan's car. Plus I needed to drop off my sewing machine, because it is making a weird metallic clicking noise when I sew, and I can't imagine that is a good thing.
Thursday night when Ryan was leaving work, his car didn't want to start. It finally did, but then on Friday morning, it wouldn't start at all! After much ado about nothing, Ryan was at work, and I had borrowed Jerry's car to run some errands while Irma watched the girls. Ryan and I went to lunch, and when we left the restaurant, my car didn't want to start either. Yikes!
Until I sat down and wrote about our week, I didn't realize how exciting (in a problematic sort of way) our week had been. Thankfully, Ryan took apart some part of his car, put it back together again, and it works fine now. My car still has problems starting, but if you turn around backwards, lift your right foot while leaning your head just to the left, while turning the key, while chanting "please work", it does fine. Ha ha!
I should have my sewing machine back by Thursday or Friday, and then I can get started on my girls' Easter dresses.
Another project that I'm proud of: This is what the seam between my kitchen tile and the dining room wood floor looks like:
It isn't too bad, except that the vacuum hole in the wall (a little slot right at floor level that you can kick a switch, and it will turn on the interior vacuum, and all your junk gets whisked away, making the dustpan obsolete) is on the kitchen tile, and most of the crumbs are on the other side of this large obstruction. This means I have to get the dustpan out for the dining room, but the kitchen is easily cleaned up. I know, it is a silly thing to complain, or even worry about. But there you go. It was bothering me, so I went out and found a better way to cover that seam.
It is so much easier to clean up now! I just sweep all the crumbs onto the tile, and kick my switch, and it is done. Yay!
Now I'm going to try and focus on staining the grout, then resealing the tile in the kitchen. I'm planning on sewing Easter dresses for my girls. Along with trying to finish baby books and a blog book. And now Spring is coming, and I'll want to stay outside a lot more. Good thing I don't have any deadlines. Although if I did, they would get done faster. :)

Wonderful Weekend
Ryan took Friday the 26th off. We had a leisurely morning with the girls, and then we took them to Irma's house.
Ryan and I went and saw "Sherlock Holmes". It was pretty good. Too much fighting for me, but Ryan enjoyed the fight scenes. Then we went to Olive Garden for lunch. My parents had given us a gift card at Christmas, and we had a delicious lunch.
We got some things at Costco, figured out that we needed to have work done on Ryan's car, and headed home. We played some games and then picked up the girls. We put them in bed, ordered some pizza, played some more, and watched some Monk episodes.
It sounds so trivial and almost boring when I write it down, but it was so nice! I got to spend the whole day with Ryan, and we didn't have to worry about the girls. Plus, the next day was Saturday, so we got to spend time with Katie and Elayna that day.
I just wanted to thank Irma for watching the girls and taking care of them. Ryan made it feel like we could do whatever we wanted. I'm so grateful for Ryan, and felt like this was a really fun vacation/date. It feels like we haven't done something like that for a long time.
We have spent the last 6 weeks going to an Exercise/Health Class for our "date". It wasn't exactly the most fun thing to do, but we learned a lot, and it was still a night out.

Elayna and Katie
Elayna's hair is long enough to put in a pony tail!
Elayna is always starving in the morning. One day, we told her to wait for a minute while we got the food ready. She sat down on the ground and just sobbed and sobbed. She is so dramatic about everything!
I was putting Elayna's socks on her feet, and one fell on the ground. She reached over and said, "I git it". She says so many things now! I've never heard her say "I git it", and she will surprise us all the time with new words and phrases.
Katie was pretending to be a cat. Notice the "whiskers" on her cheeks, and the "fur" on her chest and around her eyes. Sigh.
Amanda gave Katie a mini Hershey bar. Apparently they had been making S'mores at their house, and had some leftover chocolate. Katie brought it home and kept asking if she could have her "snore". Even when I tried to correct her, she figured I was wrong, and she just said it more distinctly.
Katie is really into poems and rhyming. She found "The Cat in the Hat" at the library, and I've read it a lot. I had no idea it was such a long book! She likes to quote rhymes like "Hey Diddle Diddle", and "Hickory Dickory Dock the mouse ran up the clock". She also sings alot. Some songs she likes right now are "Row Row Row Your Boat", and Primary songs she has learned.
