Well, soon I heard music coming from their room. Odd, since the mobile that has music is on the FAR side of the crib. I didn't think Katie could reach it. I went in, and this is what I found:
Apparently, Katie climbed in so she could talk and play with Elayna. Elayna didn't seem stepped on or upset, thankfully. They were both having fun.
Elayna was doing a groovy dance in her high chair this afternoon at lunch. She is excited about eating. She LOVES the sippy cup with water. I will hold the cup for her, and she will grab one of my fingers to bring the cup towards her. We put Cheerios on her tray, and she is trying to grab them, we can tell, but she hasn't quite got there yet. Ryan loves Club crackers, so we put one on Elayna's tray. She grabbed it and just looked at it. I pushed her hand towards her mouth, and she opened her mouth and tried to chew on it. Cute.
Katie is really into pretending. She has a bright turquoise hair clip that she carries around with her and she calls it candy. She will bring it out, and ask if we want some candy. She also likes to turn long objects into swords or wands. She likes to fight with the sword, and turn people into animals with the wand. When playing by herself, I will often hear her say things like, "Otay evybody" and "someone come get this". It reminds me of the Family Circus cartoon with the "ghost" people called "Someone", "No one", and "Not Me". Okay, I don't really remember what their names were, but it was similar to that.
Katie--"I just walking around she", when told not to step on Elayna.
Elayna doesn't use a pacifier or suck her thumb to go to sleep. She usually just falls asleep. During the day, however, she has her thumb, or finger, or toy, or blanket in her mouth almost constantly. She probably sucks on her fingers after I lay her down to sleep, and that is how she soothes herself. I don't know. I'm just the mom.
I painted my kitchen wall yellow. I had been thinking about doing it for a while, then a week or two ago, I decided it was going to be done. No matter the consequences. So of course, I went to go pick up the paint on a day that I had 20 minutes to do so. And it took 45 mins. And I was supposed to be at the church, opening it up, so they couldn't get in until someone else with keys showed up.
Then, I put the tape up, and painted the edges with a brush. (Mom and Dad were great through all this, since I called them and asked them about 50 questions, just to make sure I was doing it right. I also borrowed their ladder, and drop cloths.)
The first time I rolled the paint on, Ryan was watching, and he mentioned that I might be going a little fast. Swish, swish, get it done. Luckily I didn't have hardly any paint on the roller, so it didn't splatter everywhere. That time.
As I was doing the second coat, I had a lot of paint on the roller, and thought I was going slow, but tink, tink, tink, I could hear paint falling on the drop cloth 10 feet below. (I have arched ceilings) I looked at my arm, and I could see little yellow flecks all over it. Oh well.
I think it looks really good. I am pretty proud to say that after I took the tape off, there was no need for touch-ups.
I was reading a story to Katie, and it had a picture of a firefighter in it. I asked Katie, "Did you know that Uncle Ryan is a firefighter?" and she said, "My Daddy?", and I said, "No, UNCLE Ryan". "Oh, Ryot's Daddy?" "Yes". (Ryot is the dog)
Katie likes to wander around and just sing. The other day I heard her singing, "I know my name, I know my name. Katie Irma Bowman".

great Job on the wall. I am too chicken to try anything like that on my own. Probably because I am pretty sure I would mess it up.
I like the pic of the kids in the crib.
I am so excited for all the fun things of 2-3 year olds. Isn't it aweseom to see their personalities come through and do crazy things? It is so good that you are documenting this. Katie will LOVE going back and seeing how funny she was!:)
Such cute little girls! They are growing up way to fast! I love the yellow wall!! It is such a happy color!
I like the wall. It looks great!
That is the cutest song ever.
We need more Club crackers.
I love the wall! And I love that Katie remembers Ryot, even if she doesn't really remember who uncle ryan is :) She is so smart!
